We are doing a research project to look at whether legal aid enables people who raise a discrimination complaint in Scotland to get justice.

We want to hear from you if you have experienced discrimination in Scotland since 1 January 2016.

We would also like to hear from individuals, organisations and groups who assist people who have experienced discrimination.

However, the survey below is not intended for solicitors. 

We will be conducting short interviews with solicitors separately.

The research project will look into the following areas:

• how discrimination cases are funded by legal aid
• how many people receive legal aid funding for discrimination claims
• whether there are barriers to accessing legal aid
• whether some people experience specific difficulties in accessing legal aid
• if legal aid provides effective access to justice for people who complain of discrimination
• whether improvements could be made to reduce barriers and improve access to justice

The research project largely covers the terms of reference outlined for our inquiry into legal aid in England and Wales.
